Terms & Conditions


This policy is in place to protect the student, the parent, the teacher and serves to ensure that lessons run smoothly and without conflict. Remember that, while taken seriously, music lessons are meant to be enjoyable as well as educational.

Terms and Conditions of Music lessons


  • Lessons are taught on a term time basis predominantly with the exception of the summer holidays.
  • Students taking forthcoming exams may have extra lessons arranged.
  • As the student you are committed to the lessons and agree to pay for the lessons four weeks in advance.
  • LESSON CANCELLATIONS: Please let me know as soon as possible and I will do my utmost to rearrange the lesson, if the time and day offered is unsuitable then you will be required to pay for the cancelled lesson. Please be aware that lesson slots are not always available.
  • LESSON ABSENCE:  I will not be able to offer you a refund for illness, or missed or forgotten lessons as lessons are pre-booked in advance. 
  • If you are self isolating due to Covid, then a video lesson will be offered as a replacement lesson.
  • If you wish to terminate the lessons, four weeks notice is required or four weeks payment in lieu of notice.


Terms and Conditions of School Music lessons


  • As the student you are committed to the lessons and agree to pay for the lessons half termly in advance.
  • Refunds will not be given due to illness or other absence, the only exception is when there is a trip arranged by the school.
  • In cases of self isolation due to Covid, a video lesson will be offered as a replacement lesson.
  • Half term notice is required for holidays.
  • If you wish to terminate the lessons, a half term notice is required or a half term payment in lieu of notice.


GDPR Statement


The General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) came into force on 25th May 2018 and requires that all businesses issue a privacy statement to all clients and contacts, regarding the data held about the individual.


1. Totally Strings is the business name that holds your data.

2. Data Held

2.1. I hold personal contact information as well as information about each student’s music education, eg progress, objectives, exam results and tracking against goals. I only hold the data needed to offer you the services you engage me to provide.


3. What I do with it

3.1. Contact information is used for scheduling, invoicing, record keeping and communicating my services with my students.


3.2. Some information will be shared with examination boards if you wish to enter for exams. ABRSM Music Medals require parental consent for the video recording of the test, this is then deleted when the test has been taken and downloaded to the exam board.

3.3. No other data will be shared unless there is a legal obligation to do so.

3.4. All reasonable steps are taken to ensure your data is processed and stored securely such as password protected digital means and cloud services (e.g. google drive).
 
4.  How long your data is stored


4.1 Your data is stored for as long as you are a student with Totally Strings and will be deleted if tuition discontinues.


5.  Individual Rights to the Data Held:
5.1. If you wish to change or delete the information I hold about you, or if you have any concerns about your data, please contact me directly on 07305211942.
